Like every “girl” experiences, life hands you up and downs, some “ups” bring you to the next level and other “downs” send you crashing – or do they? It took me 36 years to figure out that “Crash and burn”, (an affectionate nickname given to me by my brother Nick when I was four), really meant that I was a take charge, risk adverse doer. So now that we know that, what is it that a doer does?
I don’t know exactly what the others do, but I chose to build a better recipe for spirit. No silly I am not trying to win a cheerleading contest, been there done that; I want to be able to shout from the rooftops, relive my experiences, create conversations with people I don’t know and make others dreams come true.
So if you have a few minutes I will open my door and tell you it isn’t easy to be a “get Ready girl”. We girls take on many shapes and sizes, we play many roles and not a day passes in which we don’t look in the mirror and say “I wish I thinner” or “I wish I was taller”. We are all here to tell you to stop! STOP IT NOW!
We say that everyday with our products, a customer calls they want an orange bag and we have a green one. If you think you can make everyone happy – you can’t and we can’t.
One thing I can promise is that get Ready girls will never stop perfecting that recipe, tweaking the conservation, finding a bigger stadium to cheer in or looking for the “girl” who might need some persuasion to “crash and burn”.
This is why I started and then my husband joined me in this mission to teach our daughter that regardless if she has learning disabilities that there will always be a place where everyone has the same goal and zest for life, that the experiences she creates she will always own and the conversations she engages in will build her character and take her places she will only dream of – she is my “get Ready girl”, I am hers and together we make a difference.
